Goodell Volunteer Fire Dept  and EMS serves the City of Goodell and portions of Avery and Twin Lakes Township totaling 32 square miles.
In 2002, 2 members certified as EMT-B and added a vehicle unit to provide 24 hr medical service as need for the area.
In 2007, 1 member certified as EMS 1st Responder. The remainder of the Fire Dept is trained in CPR and 1st Aid and will back up EMS if needed . Both FD and EMS provide mutual aid to other towns at their request. Currently, the Goodell Fire Dept has 3 members certified Firefighter I, 5 certified Firefighter II, and   4 certified Fire Service Instructor I.
The Fire Dept is also trained By the National Weather Service in Storm Spotting.

In December 2002 relocated to new Station on the SW edge of  town, located -107 Centennial Street, Post Office Box 78, Goodell, Iowa 50439

   Sept Fire Dept Free Appreciation Day provide demonstration  and  meal
   Oct  Breakfast and lunch Soup

   Nov -Dec Members display city Christmas Decoration on Broadway
   Dec And filled and handed out Christmas sacks at Bus stop
                   ( to start Schools Christmas vacation)
